The latest photos of BeautyXPirate Pups 2-14--27-2010 Their eyes opened when they were between 10 and 12 days old. They're beginning to gain their land-legs now so ut they go to pee outseide the nest for the first few times just within the last couple of days! Their main focus is still eating and sleeping, sleeping and eating but soon enough they'll begin to interact more in experimental play. They are so warm and delicious and pudgy right now.. so kissable!

Berengaria's Album

Berengaria (Cedarwood's Dark Star of Berengaria) is the Daughter of my beloved Shackleton (Nikkett's Ulf d'Ombre ) and Madison of PointWest (Daisy). She was born August 3, 2006 and is a rare Black and White Coton with a very devoted and loving heart- though shy with strangers and taking time to get to know new people. She has passed all her health tests including CERF, OFA Patella's, Elbows, Cardio, PennHip, etc. She passes on all the best of her own and her parents good qualities to her puppies!

Lilly's Album (Cedarwood's Lilly LightHeart of Berengaria)

Lovely Lilly Light Heart is the daughter of Cedarwood's Dark Star of Berengaria and Cotonnerie Mathis (Momo). She is an amazingly sweet and affectionate girl whose gentle kisses touch my heart deeply. She began with a bit of a shy streak which she has transfromed into a fine-tuned sense of discrimination. She takes her time to get to know you, looking directly at a new person till she gets a clear sense of their heartfulness before committing herself to a relationship. Once committed, her affection is deep and abiding. She is CMR2 clear, has clear Patellas & Cardio and will go for her CERF in March of 2010 followed by the rest of her health tests soon thereafter. I adore this girl with all my heart and soul! Lilly will be two in December of 2010.

Aisha's Trip to Denmark Feb 2010

I brought one of my best puppies, Cedarwood's Lightning Star (Lucky) to live with Dorthe Junge Outzen of Kennel Glerup- an excellent Coton de Tulear Breeder in Denmark. What a joy it was to meet her, her sweet husband Jimmi, and to at last meet my friend, Brigitte Jespersen- another excellent Danish breeder of Cotons! I am so happy to have met these dear people. I even got to meet ALL of Dorthe's retired Cotons who all live nearby. They are all so happy, well-loved and much adored in their new homes and are ALL VERY LIVELY! LOL!

Beauty's Album

This is my beloved Beauty (Cotonnerie's Beaute). She is the daughter of Multi-World Champion Reggae de L'Echo des Elingues and Sweet de la Chaumiere. She is a very lovely, affectionate female tricolor Coton: An absolute delight! She'll be retiring and moving to Montreal this Spring (2010) to live with a wonderful woman named Carolle. I think she'll really love Carolle and will love hearing her native language again but I will really miss Beauty's sweet presence in my home! I'll always love her.

Wow! What a process it is to decide which of the eight puppies will go to which family! Phew! Not just the evaluations by Amanda at my Vet's office, but also hours and hours of thinking and talking to everyone, weighing all the pros and cons of each situation, of trying to respect the needs not only of each family but of each puppy as well. A good match is so IMPORTANT and has so much more to do with puppy personality and family dynamic than just the look of a puppy! Lots and lots to think about, but at last I think I have come to the right decisions and have arrived at the right placement for each puppy! Evaluations during the first visit to the vet's can be quite the experience for a puppy so don't be suprised if the puppies look a bit startled! Ha, ha! Enjoy the photos.

Magalie's boys are making lots of progress. Mommy began to wean them on their 6th week to the very day and now sleeps with me again each night. So the pups are right on schedule. They now eat on their own two times a day: no more finger feeding or spoon feeding. They have very good appetites. They also drink water from their waterer. They have also begun to go in and out the doggie door, at first with my assistance, pushing them out, then back in again but now I only push them out and as of this morning they can ALL get back in again on their own! I have found a few little puppy feces out in the puppy yard too so SOMEONE is really learning! The like to use the puppy potty as a patio to rest on though and would rather pee mostly on the floor, but we're working on that too! Pigment is coming in slowly but surely on all of them.

Berengaria's babies are making lots of progress for their age! Remember: they are 5 days younger than Magalie's babies. Berengaria also began to wean them at 6 weeks and began asking to sleep with me again only 2 days ago. So these pups are also right on schedule. They also drink water from their waterers, eat on their own, (two times a day), and have good appetites. . Tomorrow I'll expand there space again so they can access their doggie door and I'll start pushing them out, then back in again. They were using their puppy potty to rest on but now really like cuddling up to the large toy dog. They still like to pee in their old crate on the soft bed there so I'll be putting a pee pad frame back in their and giving them a second one elsewhere.. Pigment is developing slowly but surely on all of them that don't have double masks or nice dark heads.. The darker pups have had ALL their pigment in for a while already! Cute little things!

Berengaria X Pirate Pups Nov 14--29-09

These are the latest photos and videos of Berengaria and Pirate's babies- born Nov 3, 2009. They are so sweet.. just like the older litter, they have begun ot ocme when I enter thier room and like to be petted.. and now that they are learning to eat semi-solid foods, they like that too and have even more reason to come when I call "puppy, puppy, puppy!" TI tried them with eating form a dish but they do better eating off my fingers and that works fine for me too.. just takes a lot more time.. I do the same for the older litter too now.. Thes pups are learning to pee on only one side of the whelping box and not in the nest kennel so soon I'll expand their area, add in toys, and place a scented pee pad and holder near them and see how they do! They grow so fast!! Enjoy!

Berengaria X Pirate Newborns Nov4-09

Berengaria X Pirate babies, born Nov 3, 2009! Berengaria is so amazing: she had her 5 sweet babies between 7:30 and 9:08 in the evening. Can you imagine accomplishing that? And what a wonderful mother she is! Her firstborn is a very handsome, dark-headed male, her 2nd is a sweet white girl with a patch over her right eye, the 3rd is a lovely double-masked boy with spots, the 4th is a dear little all-white male, and last but not least is the 2nd female: a lovely girl with a dark, double mask. Five pups! Such a handsome, healthy, & very vigorous litter!! FYI, for all of you looking for lots of color: most will fade out to the appearance of white with a touch of color on the eartips. Only the rarer black and whites like Berengaria keep most of their color and even that fades to charcoal as they mature. Be sure to click on the album cover to see all the photos. June 2009 Litters- Beauty & Paprika Pups 8-11-09

Beauty and Paprika's pups in their 8th week and their visit to the vet! And yes, I forgot to photograph Scott & Barb's little white boy at the vet! Oh my! By the way, they're all scrambling under the puppy yard gate into the adult yard now and running up the ramp and into the kitchen to come visit and give me lots of kisses! Beauty & Pirate (Cotonnerie Beaute at Cedarwood & International Champion Cotonnerie Captain Pirate Tew at Cedarwood) are please to announce the birth of their 5 beautiful & very vigorous babies: 3 lovely females and 2 handsome males. Luna & Magalie Pups 4-27--5-16-09

Wow! The time really flies! The pups started on soft solid foods at 5 weeks old & in a few days were already eating kibble! They began by drinking from a bowl, now drink from a drip waterer! Both litters of pups moved in together a couple of weeks ago, learned to set boundaries with each other, play together inside & out in their own puppy yard, learned to run around, use the pee pads, and the dog door. They visit & play with the adults in the rest of the house & in the large grassy play yard. And now they'll start leaving for their own homes at the ned of next week! Oh MY!

Luna's babies, at almost 5 weeks old, are having fun exploring various toys and forms of play and are making great strides toward using a pee pad. They'll begin eating soft solid food in a day or two. If tomorrow is fair, they will go outside for the very first time. Magalie-3-22-09-Magalie's Pups

The birth of Magalie's puppies has been very special indeed. This is her very first litter, and Sebastian's first too! It took her all day from mid morning till 10:30 at night. While waiting I played videos of Buddhist Mantras and Mandalas from YouTube in the background and listened to soft music on Pandora. It was very peaceful! She had three sweet puppies: one girl, two boys. What a fine mother she is: tender, caring, & so patient!

Sebastian

Cedarwood's Sebastian, son of Luna (Cedarwood's Selene-So-Bright) & Can. Champion, Pirate (Cotonnerie Captain Pirate Tew), was born Sept. 20, 2007. He has excellent pigmentation, good structure, a handsome face & head & very expressive, soulful dark eyes. He has an extremely mellow, gentle, & sweet disposition, & gets along well with everyone! He is an absolute delight! He is a playful boy who likes to run after a rope chew, ball, or soft toy & bring it back to me. He is gentle with the other members of my Coton family & sleeps contentedly on my bed with me & the other Cotons at night with his head pressed against my hip, completely oblivious of the cat! I took him to handler's class recently for the first time & after carefully & quietly making note of the Bernese behind him & the Newfie in front of him, he simply gazed up at me with his large soft eyes trustingly & proceeded to do everything that was required. What a peach he is!

Berengaria & Momo Dec '08 Babies 1-5---16-09

The puppies are 6 weeks old now and are doing just fine. They are getting fluffier and usually I'd start taking them outside for their first outdoors experience and to play in the snow with the rest of the family. But sadly, it is so cold right now that I cannot take them outside... just too frigid... perhaps next week when it gets to be above zero instead of below! LOL! They're just beginning to eat soft foods and a bit of kibble now in addition to their mother's milk and are drinking water as well. It is so sweet to see them progress.. They're also playing a lot more with each other, including the inevitable "dominance dance" as they try to establish their place in the puppy hierarchy. Soon I'll be bringing them out to visit with the rest of the Coton family. Won't they be surprised to see that there is a whole other world of experience outside their own little realm!

12-31-08-Berengaria's Dec '08-pups-Wks 2-4 (Dec21--31-08)

Berengaria and Momo's puppies: Weeks 2-4. Be sure to look at the little video I'll be uploading later today as well.. The puppies are exploring their living space now that their eyes are open but still sleep a lot. A good variety of sensory stimulation is important to puppy development so I've now added several types of toys and materials with different textures, colors, and crinkly-sounds to their environment. They are also just begininng to play with each other and have even begun to steal bits of their mother's food! Be sure to look at the little video I've also posted.

Berengaria Puppies 12-5--12-19-08

This album contains photos of the pups from when they were only 1 day old (Dec 5) right up through Dec 19 when they were 16 days old. A lot of changes have taken place: at birth their weights were between 7 and 8 oz, they are now between 19 and 22 oz. They have begun to explore their environment now that their eyes have opened and in the last day or so they have begun to play just a bit. And I have actually seen one or two of them begin to lick each other's ears! They are so sweet to watch! And they make such beautiful little puppy piles and patterns! Enjoy the photos!

Jasmine and Rosie pups 9-11----24-08

The puppies are progressing very nicely! They are learning to use the dog yard more consistently, eating dry kibble, & drinking from the waterer. Each of them loves being with people & is just as affectionate as the parents. The darker-faced girl from Jasmine's litter is just a tad more reserved, but once in your arms she shows her true Coton colors & is sweet & cuddly. Both of Rosie & Sune's pups seem to have inherited Rosie's deeply affectionate, eager & outgoing nature along with Sune's devotedness. I think the girl has inherited her father's beauty as well. This Friday, Sept 26, both litters will be 8 weeks old. Next Wednesday, Oct 1st. they go for first shots & evaluations! So very soon I'll be sorting who is best suited to whom! Wow! It all happens so fast. What a delight it is to watch them mature!

Jasmine & Momo Pups 9-2-08--9-6-08

The pups turned 4 and then 5 weeks old in these photos. At 4 weeks they had their first solid food: organic baby cereal made of rice.. At 5 weeks they got to go outdoors for the first time.. The first time I took them out, the very next day they began to go ut on their own! I now have a doupble flap door and was a bit concerned that they jmight not get through as easily.. but no problems at all! Wow! I hope you enjoy seeing the puppies exploring their new world!

These are the latest photos of Rosie and Sune's puppies from 9-4-08 through 9-10-08. At 4 weeks old they had their first solid food; at 5 weeks old they went out into the pupy yard for the first time; at 5 weeks they went out into the adult yard ofr the first time to play with all the other Cotons in my little family. Both of these pups are wonderfully sweet and affetionate! What a joy they are. And they are already learning to use the dog door to go out to the puppy yard to eliminate! enjoy the photos of these wonderful puppies!

At just 3.2 weeks old the pups have begun to get their "sea legs" now as they gain more control over their limbs and begin to explore their environment.. They immediately took to the tunnel and have begun to use it as a second nest in which to cuddle and take naps. They are also beginning to wrestle and interact with soft toys...

Jasmine & Momo's August 1st litter (2008)

Jasmine (Cedarwood's Leather and Lace, daughter of Int'l Champion Azmir's Future Star) & Momo (Cotonnerie's Mathis, son of Muliti-World Champion Reggae) are pleased to announce the birth of their four sweet children. Jasmine gave birth to two boys and two girls late in the night of August 1st and in the wee hours of the morning of August 2nd, 2008. The firstborn is a handsome white male weighing 6 oz, born at 11:54 pm; the second is a white male with black head markings born at 12:54 am weighing 5.5 oz; the third is a lovely little girl with rich tricolor markings: born at 1:30 am, weighing 5.5 oz; the last puppy is another female with tricolor markings, wighing 4.5 oz, born at 3:35. All four pups are strong and healthy. Jasmine is a tender and nurturing young mother!

They are two very happy, friendly pups who are fortunate enough to be spending extra time together here at Cedarwood Cotons until they go to their new families in mid-September. They now spend all their time with the adults in the rest of the house rather than in the puppy room as we get ready for Rosie and Jasmine to have babies of their own soon. So the two little girls are learning more about crate training and to not pee in the house. They are doing very well with this! They went to the vet for their secoond set of shots yesterday and were very brave and well-behaved! Everyone at the vet's thought they were quite lovely!

Berengaria & Momo's Pups- 6-29--7-13-08

The pups turned 8 weeks old last Friday and will go for their first evaluations and shots this coming week. This is a really lovely litter. Their coats are full, their nose pigmentation very strong, the eyeliner coming in very nicely. They are so smart and quick to learn! Each puppy has so much to bring to their new families: they are so outgoing and full of love, playfullness, charm, and beauty. Both boys and the one white girl have found their forever families. The sweet little tricolor-eared girl's placement is still pending.

Berengaria & Momo's Puppies4.5--6.2 wks (6-17--28-08)

The puppies continue to grow and develop very nicely indeed! they are now eating softened solid foods and drinking water from the wall-mounted waterer. AND they are using the dog door to go outside EVERY time they have to poo! Wow! This litter still has an "oops" inside with peeing, but NEVER yet has one of them pooed indoors. Can't believe it! And they just love crawling under the gate between the puppy yard and the adult yard to get into the kitchen to greet me and the other adult Cotons in the morning.. What a sweet bunch they are! The pups will be evaluated in just under two weeks! Amazing how time flies! Be sure to look at the videos of the pups too... Topaz-Summer 2008

Topaz lives in Louisiana bringing love and joy to a very lovely family of four- a doctor and his wife and two children. Topaz (Cedarwood's Little Gem) is a very lovely, sweet, affectionate little girl wth the same quiet elegance of her maternal grandmother, Tres (Penny Lane du Domaine de Luniray). She has excellent bloodlines behind her. She is the daughter of my beloved Luna (Cedarwood's Selene-So-Bright) and Pirate (Canadian Champion Cotonnerie's Captain Pirate Tew) . Topaz's mother is also the grandaughter of multi-World Champion Reggae de L"Echo des Elingues.

Berengaria & Momo Babies from 2.5 to 4 weeks old-June 15, 2008

The puppies turned 4 weeks old on June 13th and what sweet, pudgie little things they are! They have been very busy wexploring their environment now that they have gained some control over their little legs and love trying out the toys I have brought out for them. They are also very sociable too, not a single shy one among them! I have been doing neurological stimulation exercises with them and am very pleased with their development so far. Since they had started trying to steal bits of dry food from their mother's bowl, I started them on an organic rice baby cereal feeding it to them with a spoon. One or two of them have also managed to get out through the dog door already and had to be rescued so it was clearly time to practice with them. So when my friend, their Auntie Judith, came for a visit over the weekend, we took them out into the puppy yard to explore. Tres' Album

Tres (Penny Lane du domaine de Luniray) is my eldest female, now retired since January of 2007. Born in 1999, she is a quiet, elegant, and decidedly regal, yet energetic and affectionate girl who comes from some of the earlier, more elegent and now seldom bred bloodlines out of Luniray in France. Her structure is excellent, her coat is easy to maintain, her temperament is calm and peaceful. I am considering placing her out, but only to the right home. She would be very hard for me to part with, but I feel she deserves more attention than I can give her considering how many Cotons I now have.

Berengaria and Momo Puppies from the first few days to 2 weeks old-5-30-08

Two weeks of sweet photos tracking the progress of Berengaria and Momo's puppies from the first few days of life to their 2nd week. These puppies are so rolly-poly! My goodness! And they smell so good when you pick them up. They also seem to have exceptionally thick and soft coats already... or is it just my imagination? They have grown quite rapidly in several ways. Some of them started roaming earlier than usual before their eyes were even open! Their eyes opened the day they turned 2 weeks old (May 30) and now they are really starting to wander! Berengaria is an excellent mother! She tends her small babies lovingly and carefully and also remembers to take a break now and then.. One little boy and one little girl (the Tricolor boy, white girl) decided to go in search of their mom during one of her breaks. Berengaria & Momo's Newborn Babies-born May 16, 2008

This is the very first litter of pups for both Momo and Berengaria! They had four sweet babies: two boys and two gilrs. One boy and girl are white with perhaps a hint of champagne, one girl has a bit of tricolor on her head, one boy may be a black and white just a bit on his head and ears and an eye ring! They are 5 days old now and already the white boy has been scrambling out of the nest even though his eyes are still closed. Their eyes should open at about 10 days old... then they will start to wobble around a bit more as they get ready to explore their environment..

Cotons in Late Winter- March, 2008

Snow, snow, and still more snow! We had so much snow this winter that for the first time in 14 years I had to have a bucket loader clear the driveway! There was just no place to put it all! Wow! My dear friend Judith came up to visit from Brattleboro and was kind enough to help me shovel out the path allong the fence-line so the Cotons could go out to play on this bright and sunny day. Usually it takes me two days to get their path done! The drifts were right to the top of the 4' fence! The Cotons really enjoyed watching us and supervising the work-- in between chasing each other up and down the yard!

Beauty & Sune pups March 17- 31, 2008

The pups are growing by leaps and bounds! April 3 they will be 8 weeks old, will get their first shots and will be evaluated. During the last two weeks they have gotten several new toys to interact wtih, they've had their first outdoor experience,have learned to use the dog door, have been weaned and are now eating solid food, and are learning to drink from a waterer. The one or two pups who were until now a bit shy and reluctanct are now eager to play and interact with people. That is a lot to learn in just a few short weeks!

Beauty & Sune Pups- Feb 23- March 16, 2008

This has been an eventful few weeks for the puppies! They have their land-legs now and are actively exploring their environment, playing with each other, sipping water, learning to use the pee pad (though certainly still peeing on the floor, LOL!), and just this past Thursday, at 5 weeks old, they began eating their first solid food. Their tiny, sharp teeth have begun to develop so Beauty, their mother, has begun to wean them and is wanting to spend time away from them with the other adults and with me. They will go for their furst shots and evalutions at 8 weeks old. Very soon now!

Beauty and Sune are pleased to announce the birth of their five beautiful babies! Beauty began having her 5 beautiful children late at night Wednesday, Feb 6, 2008 and through the wee hours of the morning of Thursday, Feb 7! She had three lovely girls (1 black & white, 1 tricolor, & 1 white) and two handsome boys (1 black & white, 1 white).

Beauty & Sune pups Feb 7---18-08

Photos Beauty and Sune's newborn puppies during the first 10 days of their lives. In these first days they have focussed on only two things: eating and sleeping! Occasionally, one of the would hitch a ride on their mommy and end up outside their crate. They would cry loudly, still blind and unable to see where they were or to locate their mother until I came to put them back in in with their littermates. Now most of the puppy's eyes are open. All too soon they will learn to wander about on their own! But I am prepared: I have placed a barrier around their crate and a soft pad on the floor in side their enclosure to keep them safe and warm and to provide traction for their tiny feet as they learn to move about.

Luna and Pirate Puppies at 6 to 8.5 wks (10-29--11-21-07)

My how they have grown in both size and experience! I have changed their physical envirnment several times by introducing colorful new toys, puppy jungle gymns and playmats for them to interact with as well as little dens for them to hide in. The pups have had time with several different adult visitors and one perfectly delightful little girl who was the darling of all the pups! They have also had time listening to recordings of a range of sounds including traffic, fireworks, children screaming, dogs barking, vacuums and blenders, and other environmental noises and sounds to help them acclimatize. The pups also enjoy time in the rest of the house playing with the other adult Cotons. All four pups have turned out to be very outgoing, playful, and affectionate little creatures who are exceedingly charming! On the 16th the pups went for their first set of shots and their preliminary evaluation. (They turned 8 weeks old on the 15th of November). We go for our official evaluation on t

The pups had their first solid food this week. I finally finished fencing in the new play yard (it is really big!) and they had their first time out in the new play yard and got to explore and play with all the adult Cotons. They had such a good time! They also got several new toys... they love rolling the red ball around.. it is very noisy and they really like that. The pups also began to go out the dog door all by themselves for the first time.

The latest photos of Luna & Pirate Pups from 3- 4.5 weeks old. They have been learning to use a pee pad, have been outside for the first time, have had their nails trimmed twice, and have had their first meal of porridge! Their space has doubled and they have begun to explore toys, are playing with each other, and have interacted with several visitors to our home... And today they had their first taste of porridge. What a wonderful start to their new lives!

Sune Andersson (Azmir's Future Star) was bred by Monica Bengtsson. He arrived in the US in Sept of 2006 to join my familyas Cedarwood Cotons new stud male. He is an International Champion with championships in Germany and in his native Sweden. He is the son of Azmir's Starlight and Nikkett's La Petite Marguerite. Sune is a handsome, all white male Coton de Tulear with an amazingly regal presence! He is also an incredibly gentle, sweet, and loving boy.

Rosie

Rosie (Rockabye Coton's Wee Bonnie Lass) came to live with me at Cedarwood Cotons when she was 2 years old. She is an exuberant, enthusiastic little girl with lovely champagne highlights on her ears. She is quite the little kisser! Rosie loves puppies more than any Coton I know (except for Berengaria!). Her mothering instinct is so strong that she eaferly adopts everyone elses pups once they are weaned. I call her my little "Auntie" for that very reason! What a sweet little thing she is!

Luna's Album

Luna: (Cedarwood's Selene -So-Bright) is the daughter of Tres (Penny Lane du Domaine de Luniray) and Cotonnerie Moka Java Boy (son of Reggae de' L'Echo de Elingues). She is a medium sized Coton with a quiet nature who likes to keep to herself except when I am am sitting down, then she wants to lie next to me in the chair or at my feet if I'm working at my computer. She likes to sleep by my head at night and hates to be separated from me if I am away. She loves having visitors but does socialize much with my other Cotons. She is a really wonderful, nurturing mother!
